Why a code that looks fine can still fail
QR codes fail silently. There is no partial credit: it decodes or it does not. And the conditions in your design tool are nothing like a customer holding a three-year-old phone at an angle in a dim restaurant.
This tester measures the things that actually predict failure — contrast, module size, quiet zone and data density — and tells you which one to fix.
Test before the print run
The most expensive QR mistakes are discovered after 5,000 menus are printed. Upload the exact file you are about to send to the printer, and if you already have a proof, photograph it and upload that instead. A photo of the printed code tests the ink, the paper and the finish as well as the design.
Frequently asked questions
What does the tester check?
Whether the code decodes at all, the contrast ratio between modules and background, how many pixels each module occupies, whether the quiet zone is wide enough, and whether the payload is dense enough to cause trouble at small print sizes.
Can I test a code made by another generator?
Yes — that is the point. Upload a code from anywhere, including a photo of one already printed.
It says my code is risky but my phone scans it fine.
A new phone in good light is the easiest possible test. The warnings predict failure on older cameras, in poor lighting, at an angle, or after print degradation. If you are printing at volume, take them seriously.
